Nava to Go After Third Title!

Published on: 29th January, 2010

It has just been reported by Daniel Antuna of Tijuana newspaper Frontera, that this Saturday’s clash between Tijuana, MX’s Jackie Nava and Shantal Martinez of Panama will be for the WBC super bantamweight title. Nava has held the title twice before. Nava lost the title to Argentinean Marcela “La Tigresa” Acuña last year but since her retirement, the belt has become vacant.

Martinez has been brash in predicting not only a knockout but in retiring Nava, a comment that Nava takes in stride.

“She has been saying that she is going to retire me but I will do my talking in the ring,” the confident Nava stated. “This is a great opportunity to be able to win the crown in Mexico. At first it was said that it would be for the interim title but now that Acuña retired, the title is absolute.”

The Nava-Martinez title bout will be the semi main event for Jorge “Travieso” Arce’s pursuit of the vacant WBO super flyweight title against Indonesian Angy Angkota in Mexico City.

The fight card will be televised by TV AZTECA in Mexico.
