IBF featherweight champion Cristobal “Lacandon” Cruz of Tijuana, MX, by way of Chiapas has found the fourth challenger of his crown in Orlando “Siri” Salido for April 24th. The city where the bout will take place has not been announced.
“We are training very hard and I am sure that this time, we are going to knock him out,” Cruz stated. Cruz defeated Salido by split decision in 2008 to capture the vacant IBF title.
“We don’t consider Salido of the same caliber as Jorge Salido, Cyrill Thomas or Ricard Castillo,” his trainer said. “By that logic, we are confident that we will be able to defeat him by KO Cristobal has gained more experience since their last fight in 2008.”
Zanfer Promotions through their partner Top Rank won the recently held purse bid. The winning bid was for $251,000 while Banner Promotions, who represents Cruz bid only $1,000 less.
