Many might say that the toughest opponent the three time divisional champion Erik “Terrible” Morales has faced was either Manny Pacquiao or Marco Antonio Barrera. He disagrees as he feels beating the “Pacman” or Barrera was much easier than defeating the evil “Terrible” that was inside of him.

“My battle is a daily one with Erik Morales, a fighter who felt pressured, stressed, tired and fed up with boxing,” Morales says as he wraps his hands at his training camp in the Otomi Mountains of south central Mexico. “I did too many fights at the end, I asked too much of myself, I got too tired, I made mistakes, I made the wrong choices, I didn’t know how to give myself a rest and the moment came when it all came together and I left. Now I am strong, confident and well-rested and you will see the good Erik Morales.

Morales is scheduled to make his return on March 27th in MOnterrey, MX, against the hard hitting Jose Alfaro of Nicaragua.

The thirty- four year old with a record of 48 wins with 34 by KO against six defeats in a seventeen year career says that the most difficult part of his comeback was not losing the weight, he has dropped more than forty pounds in three months, but being away from his family.

“I am happy, every day its less time, not to fight, but to be with my family again,” Morales says. “That is my motivation. I feel lighter, everything has been worth it and I expect to prove it by winning on March 27th.”
